Cycling naked for safer streets

26 June 2025

Wearing little more than sunscreen and a helmet, around a hundred cyclists took to the streets of Brussels on Saturday for the 20th edition of the Cyclonudista. The annual nude bike ride is a symbolic protest that draws attention to cyclists' vulnerability in traffic, the need for better cycling infrastructure, and the environmental impact of car-dominated cities. "Being naked – unlike car pollution – doesn't hurt anybody," the organiser Jérôme Jolibois said.

Welcome to The European Correspondent

Europe lacks true European media: in Germany alone, there are more media devoted exclusively to football than news outlets specialising on Europe. The established players mainly focus on Brussels and European institutions. The European Correspondent aims to change that. We cover the whole of Europe and write for a community of citizens who want to look beyond their own national borders. Without European journalism, there is no European civil society.
