The European Correspondent is looking for:

Newsletter editor (4 days/month)

About the role

As newsletter editor, you’ll help shape how we speak directly to our readers across Europe. You’ll be responsible for editing our newsletters – making sure they’re sharp, accessible, and true to our tone – and for ensuring that each edition speaks to the questions and concerns of our audience. You’ll also executive produce other editors’ newsletters, ensuring every edition is polished.

You’ll be part of a Europe-wide team and play a key role in bringing together stories from across the continent in a clear, cohesive format. We hope to combine this role with other editorial / newsroom positions we have open at the moment (find them here).

What you'll be doing

  • Edit one newsletter/week for clarity, tone, flow and style.

  • Ensure newsletters are reader-focused and answer the kinds of questions our audience might have.

  • Work closely with other newsletter editors, desk editors, and contributors

  • Executive produce others’ newsletters – checking final edits, and ensuring deadlines are met

  • Help maintain consistent voice, tone, and formatting across all newsletter editions

  • Spot opportunities to make our newsletters more accessible, engaging, and useful to a European audience

What we're looking for

  • You’re an excellent editor with a sharp sense of voice, tone, and rhythm – and can make complex stories feel accessible

  • You know how to put the reader first and edit with empathy and clarity

  • You’re comfortable working in a collaborative editorial environment, often across borders and time zones.

  • You're naturally curious about what connects and divides people across Europe.

  • You have excellent English skills; additional European languages are a plus.

  • You have a collaborative mindset – we’re building something together.

  • You take ownership of your work and thrive when given responsibility – we’re looking for people who want to help shape our journalism and organisation.

  • You're a registered freelancer in a European Union country.

What we offer

  • Payment range: €480-€720

  • Flexible, remote-first work culture based on trust and outcomes.

  • A say in shaping an independent media start-up from the ground up.

  • Significant potential to grow with the organisation as we expand fast.

  • Access to a growing European network of journalists and content creators

  • A mission-driven team that values openness and experimentation.

  • Location: if you're in Brussels, join us in our office – or work fully remotely from elsewhere.

  • Starting date: 1 August 2025
