The European Correspondent is looking for:
Network manager (eight days/month)
About the role
As network manager, you’ll strengthen and grow the community behind The European Correspondent – a network of journalists, contributors, and collaborators across the continent. You'll lead the organisation of everything from online masterclasses to in-person meetups and ensure that the spirit of shared purpose that TEC was founded on continues to thrive.
You’ll be part of a Europe-wide team and play a key role in how we support each other, grow together, and build journalism beyond borders.
What you'll be doing
Organise activities for the TEC network of journalists: including online masterclasses, editorial meetups, regional gatherings, and skills-sharing sessions
Grow and nurture the network as we open it up to new members beyond our current contributors
Manage the development of our Learning Hub – a resource space for journalists to share knowledge, skills, and opportunities
Develop initiatives that make the network more valuable for members – whether they’re seasoned correspondents or new to cross-border journalism
Maintain regular communication with network members and act as a go-to person for engagement and support
Coordinate with the editorial and communications teams to make sure network activities are aligned with TEC’s broader mission
What we're looking for
You understand and value community – and know how to keep one active, inclusive, and motivated.
You know how to design and build educational or training programmes that are practical, engaging, and useful for journalists.
You’re highly organised and comfortable working independently.
You have ideas on how to support journalists not just professionally, but also socially and creatively.
You're naturally curious about what connects and divides people across Europe.
You have excellent English skills; additional European languages are a plus.
You have a collaborative mindset – we’re building something together.
You take ownership of your work and thrive when given responsibility – we’re looking for people who want to help shape our journalism and organisation.
You are a registered freelancer in a European Union country.
What we offer
Payment range: €960-€1440, depending on where you live
Flexible, remote-first work culture based on trust and outcomes.
A say in shaping an independent media start-up from the ground up.
Significant potential to grow with the organisation as we expand fast.
Access to a growing European network of journalists and content creators
A mission-driven team that values openness and experimentation.
Location: if you're in Brussels, join us in our office – or work fully remotely from elsewhere.
Starting date: 1 August 2025
